Former Governor of Bauchi State, Mohammed Abubakar SAN, popularly known as MA Abubakar, has formally received his All Progressives Congress (APC) Bauchi State gubernatorial nomination form, signaling his return to the political frontline ahead of the 2027 elections.
The nomination form was purchased and presented to him in Abuja on Thursday by the MA Abubakar Strategic Committee, in what observers described as a significant step in his anticipated comeback bid.
The handover ceremony drew a broad mix of stakeholders, including party loyalists, political leaders from across the country, APC faithful from Bauchi State, as well as friends and family members.
The atmosphere reflected both solidarity and expectation, with supporters describing the moment as a rallying point for renewed political engagement in the state. The gathering also underscored the growing momentum around Abubakar’s potential candidacy within the All Progressives Congress.
Speaking shortly after receiving the form, Abubakar expressed deep appreciation to the committee for their gesture, describing it as a demonstration of trust and collective belief in his leadership.
He also commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring a level playing field for aspirants within the party, noting that such openness has strengthened internal democracy in the APC.
Reflecting on his previous tenure as governor from 2015 to 2019, he said the experience had given him a clearer understanding of Bauchi State’s challenges and opportunities, adding that he is prepared to build on past achievements and deliver more impactful governance if given another mandate.
He further expressed confidence in Bauchi’s vast human and natural resources, pledging to harness them to reposition the state as a model for development in Nigeria.
Assuring the people that he would not disappoint them, Abubakar described his ambition as a collective aspiration fueled by widespread calls across the state and beyond.
He reiterated his commitment to inclusive growth, improved infrastructure, and human capital development, while thanking party leaders, supporters, and God for the journey so far.
