Former Katsina state governor and chairman of the All Progressives Congress National Convention Central Coordination Committee, Aminu Masari, has asked the new National Working Committee (NWC) of the party not to succumb to undue pressures from aspirants ahead of party primaries to produce candidates for the general elections in 2027.
The former Speaker of the House of Representatives gave the warning Thursday at the APC national secretariat after presenting Certificates of Return to the APC national chairman and 24 other members.
The Kastina born politicians warned that the NWC would be subjected to temptations and inducements from aspirants seeking the party tickets for elective offices, but urged Yilwatda-led NWC to do the right thing in the interest of the party and the country.
“I wish the National Working Committee God’s guidance as we face the task ahead, because we have one Working Committee that has just emerged, and we are immediately confronted with primaries, from the local government to the national level.
“So, I wish you God’s guidance and protection, and the wisdom to carry out the task successfully. Normally, parties, especially the National Working Committee, will be under intense pressure during primaries. I hope you will be able to resist temptation and do what is right for the benefit of our party and our country. I wish you God’s guidance.”
Responding, APC national chairman commended the former speaker and his team for conducting a seamless convention, which he described as “an excellent, elegant, well-organised, transparent, and one of the most beautiful conventions ever held in Nigeria.”
