âŚWarns against imposition in Cross River North
The Ukelle Patriotic Front (UPF), a leading socio-political group in Cross River North Senatorial District, has written an open letter to Governor Bassey Out, declaring its total endorsement of Senator Jarigbe Agom Jarigbe and Hon. Godwin Offiono as the only acceptable candidates for the zone in future elections.
In the letter signed by its Coordinator, Comrade Kingsley Eji, UPF said the endorsement rests on the lawmakersâ âvisible, verifiable, and unprecedented impactâ in empowering constituents and driving development across the five LGAs of the district.
âSenator Jarigbe and Hon. Offiono have restored dignity to our people. We have seen light through these two leaders. We will not return to darkness.â They said.
The group listed Senator Jarigbeâs record to include hundreds of federal jobs facilitated for youths, scholarships for indigent students, multi-million naira SME grants, and construction of roads, schools, health centres, and solar boreholes in communities âabandoned for decades.â
Hon. Offiono was credited with rehabilitating schools, donating transformers, distributing farm inputs to thousands of farmers, and holding free medical outreaches that reached over 10,000 constituents in Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency
âOther prospective candidates lack the political will, track record, and grassroots acceptance to progress this zone. Any attempt to substitute them will be resisted at the polls.â
UPF warned that Cross River North, with its âmassive voting power and political consciousness,â would reject any candidate imposed against the peopleâs will. âThe era of using our zone as a political bargaining chip is over,â the group said.
The statement urged Governor Otu to respect the voice of the people and support continuity for both lawmakers, adding that UPF would mobilize all towns, clans, and youth groups to âdefend the mandateâ of Jarigbe and Offiono.
âThe ballot remains the ultimate weapon of the masses against imposition,â Comrade Eji stated.
