The deputy rector of the Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi, Mallam Isyaku Abdullahi has officially assumed duty as the acting rector of the institution.
He takes over from Dr. Usman Sani Tunga, who retired from service.
At the handover, Monday the acting rector pledged to follow on the footsteps of his predecessor of achieving academic excellence.
He assured staff and students of his commitment to effective service delivery and good leadership, while soliciting the cooperation of all stakeholders towards attaining the goals of the polytechnic.
The outgoing rector, Dr. Usman Sani Tunga, recalled that he was appointed to the position in 2022 and expressed happiness about the industrial harmony that existed between the management and staff throughout his tenure.
“I’m also leaving more than N1.744 billion surplus money in the account of the polytechnic, in addition to various infrastructural developments executed,” Tunga stated.
