The governor of Benue state, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Thursday issued stern warning against the encroachment of landed property belonging to the state government.
Speaking to journalists after inspecting reconstruction works at the commissioners’ quarters in Makurdi, Governor Alia expressed dismay at the level of encroachment and stated that his administration would not tolerate any infringement on government-owned assets.
He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring that all properties under the state’s ownership are fully utilised, adding that his government is determined to safeguard them.
The governor commended the quality of work carried out so far at the commissioners’ quarters and urged the contractor to accelerate the pace of construction.
He reiterated his administration’s resolve to provide spacious and high-quality accommodation for senior government officials within the shortest possible time.
Governor Alia directed the Ministry of Works and Housing to intensify efforts in protecting government properties.
He further disclosed plans to construct additional housing units within the quarters to ease the housing deficit and provide more civil servants with secure accommodation.
