Update: Avon High School in Hendricks County, Indiana, was briefly placed on lockdown on Friday after it received a threat.
According to Kevin Carr, communications coordinator for Avon Community School Corporation, an anonymous call warned of a potential incident near the school, leading officials to initiate a lockdown as a safety measure.
Law enforcement later conducted a thorough search and confirmed there was no credible threat, after which the lockdown was lifted.
Zionsville Community High School also received a similar threat. In a message to families, Superintendent Rebecca Coffman said the call, received shortly before 2 p.m., claimed a bomb had been placed inside the school. Police quickly investigated and determined the threat was unfounded within about an hour.
“After a swift response by our local public safety agencies, and a complete search of the ZCHS campus, the threat targeting ZCHS has been deemed non-credible by the Zionsville Police Department,” her message read.
The origin of the call is being investigated.

Initial report: Unconfirmed reports circulating on social media claim that Avon High School in Hendricks County, Indiana, has been placed on lockdown, with students reportedly not allowed to leave their classrooms. Some local residents say the lockdown was initiated as a precaution after a threat was allegedly made against the school. Several parents have also reported a significant police presence in the area. However, authorities have not yet confirmed these reports.
One parent reported on Facebook, “Kids in classes are freaking out! Trying to find out if its in the school or outside.”
Another added, “My daughter said there’s tons of cops outside the school.”
A third person wrote, “My son says a threat was made and intercepted but they aren’t letting kids into hallways yet.”

Safety alert
Parents reported receiving an safety alert from the school, saying, “Out of an abundance of caution, we have issued a lockdown order at Avon High School. We are investigating the situation in partnership with the Avon School Police Department and local law enforcement.”
