Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, has been thrown into mourning following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma, who passed away on Friday, March 27.
The sad news was confirmed in a statement released by the El-Rufai family on Friday.
According to family sources, the late matriarch had been dealing with age-related health issues for some time, which reportedly worsened in recent weeks.
Sources also disclosed that her condition declined further after she became aware of her son’s reported detention by the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC).
It was gathered that El-Rufai had been closely involved in overseeing his mother’s care before her passing.
In their statement, the family prayed for Almighty Allah to forgive her shortcomings and grant her Aljannatul Firdaus.
Her death comes barely a week after the family recorded another loss, following the passing of El-Rufai’s sister-in-law on March 20.
