Coi Leray made headlines recently when she gushed about unexpectedly finding love after splitting from fellow rapper Trippie Redd.
During an episode of Baby This is Keke Palmer, the “Twinnem” artist talked proudly about the new man in her life, Justin Laboy.
“I didn’t expect to be in another relationship anytime soon,” Leray shared. “I was very focused and locked in. Still very focused and very locked in. Coming from my last situation, I’m like, ‘Nah…me, my daughter, just work, nothing else. I am a robot. Don’t talk to me. Don’t talk to me.’ That’s how my mind was.”
She added, “I think I fell for his personality. He’s the most funniest person ever. He’s such a good vibe. He’s such a good time. Now that we’re together, I’ve gotten to experience the way he pours into me. And I think that was the main thing that I fell in love with because I’ve never been with anyone ever that poured into me the way he did. It doesn’t feel like a competition. It doesn’t feel like there’s ego there. He doesn’t care if I’m more successful as an artist. And I don’t care if he’s more successful in media.”
As she praised Laboy, some fans felt like a few of her comments were directed at her ex. Here’s more on Leray’s split from Trippie Redd, including what she regrets about it and whether or not they’re on good terms today.
The reason Leray left Redd when she was pregnant
Some high-profile breakups are surprising for fans, but what really grabbed people’s attention about Leray and Redd’s split is that it happened while the “No More Parties [Remix]” hitmaker was pregnant with their child.
Leray and Redd began dating in 2019, when both were rising artists. Much of their relationship unfolded publicly on social media, and the two called it quits that same year. Tensions over their breakup spilled into their music with Redd releasing a diss track titled “Leray.”
The two eventually rekindled their relationship in August 2024 and in January 2025, Leray announced they were expecting their first child. Three weeks later though, the pair broke up again, and this time it was Leray who went public with details on what led to that.
She took to her Instagram Stories and claimed that Redd had been unfaithful, writing, “Nothing worst [sic] than being cheated on. I wouldn’t wish this pain on my worst enemy” with a broken heart and crying emoji.
What Leray shared about her ‘regret’ and their relationship now
Before Leray started dating Laboy, she appeared on his show in September 2025 and revealed what she regretted about her breakup with Redd.
“I honestly wish I didn’t go public with it because it created so much more problems in my life personally,” she admitted. “’Cause I don’t wish bad on nobody right but I was pregnant. I was vulnerable, and I was f***** up. It was a hard time to get through.”
As for the relationship Leray and Redd have today, she explained that they are not friends but right now do their best co-parenting for their daughter, Miyoco, who was born in June 2025.
