The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has ruled out possibility of implosion after the forthcoming National Convention slated for 27th and 28th of March.
The party, however, commended wisdom of consensus arrangement embraced, saying such will save it from implosion.
The APC Deputy National Organizing Secretary, Hon. Chidi Nze Duru, who spoke with newsmen, shortly after he was screened and cleared by the party’s National Convention Committee, Tuesday in Abuja, also declared that the party aims to win massively across geopolitical zones in 2027.
Hon. Duru expressed confidence that the ruling party will have a landslide victory across the country in 2027 general elections.
On the the forthcoming National Convention, the former House of Representatives member said he would like to see the exercise as “majorly consensus building.
“It also underpins the basic tenant for which APC is known for, as much as possible building a consensus, bringing people together behind the scene, working harder to ensure that there is no rupture and there’s no implosion as people would like to have.
“It does not mean that there are no contests. It doesn’t mean that there are no disagreements but once a party had the internal mechanism of being able to bring people together and say look there can only be one person occupying a particular office, there cannot be two. I think it means well for democracy. It also augurs well for ensuring that people are recognized and the parties seem to be a party that is built on firm foundations and structure coming.”
When asked how he intends to mobilise South-east for the party in 2027, Hon. Duhu said: “I believe the party is not looking at the geographical expression or a zone, the party is winning and looking at winning the entire country. So our push and our mantra is to deliver all the entire states, including FCT, and if you look at it from the point of zone whether it’s South-east, South-west, North-central or North-west, the party is positioned and primed to win a majority of the votes in all the look and corners of Nigeria.
“So we are not localizing it, and I can also assure you that when you look at the spread of the party now and those who have also come into the party you can be rest assured that APC is the party to beat in the fourth coming election.
“We will continue to work hard and we will continue to lead Nigerian people. We continue to spread our gospel and our message to the people of Nigeria and we’re going to compete on the basis of what we have done for Nigerian people, the development we have brought to the people of Nigeria, the level playing field that have been created and of course putting food on the table of Nigerians.
“There are challenges. We must not deny that. Of course, the international global economy will always have an impact in Nigeria as well as it has in other parts of the country, but the reality is the government is taking steady steps to ensure that those challenges are moderated. And in the next few months from now, you begin to see the result of hard work that has been done by this government under the APC.”
