Delta police bust drug networks, arrest suspects, recover large cache of hard drugs in statewide raids
Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes following coordinated anti-crime raids that led to the arrest of suspected drug traffickers and the recovery of large quantities of illicit substances across the state.
The Command disclosed that the operations, carried out by tactical units, also helped disrupt suspected criminal networks and foil activities linked to drug distribution within affected communities.
According to the police, operatives attached to the Otorerokpe Division conducted a targeted raid on April 15, 2026, at about 10:23 pm in Ugholo community, where a suspected drug dealer, identified as Justina Onokpasa, 33, was arrested.
During the operation, officers recovered two large bags of weeds suspected to be Canadian Loud, 300 small cans containing substances also suspected to be Canadian Loud, 30 bottles of CSC codeine, 10 sachets of tramadol, two sachets of ‘Super Royal’ (Redboy), 12 sachets of Swinol, 12 pieces of Molly drugs, and 400 empty distribution cans.
Police authorities confirmed that the suspect is currently in custody while investigations continue to unravel the source and distribution network of the seized drugs.
In a related operation on April 16, 2026, at about 11:45 am, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) carried out a raid on suspected drug hotspots in Abraka, leading to the arrest of three suspects.
Large quantities of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp and other illicit substances were recovered during the operation. The suspects have also been taken into custody as investigations continue.
Reacting to the successful operations, the Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their professionalism and dedication to duty.
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking and other criminal activities across the state, urging residents to support law enforcement efforts with credible information.
Police Public Relations Officer, Bright Edafe, who disclosed the development, stated that the Command remains determined to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure the safety of residents.
The police further assured that operations against drug-related crimes and other security threats would continue across Delta State.
