Heavy rainfall across the UAE has led to wadis overflowing, creating dramatic scenes that have been widely shared on social media.
On Friday, the country entered the final phase of an unstable weather system. The conditions brought cooler temperatures, strong winds, and reduced visibility to several regions.
In Al Ain, intense rainfall caused water levels to rise quickly. Videos circulating online showed wadis flowing forcefully, underlining the impact of continuous downpours in the area.
Authorities Issue Flood Safety Warnings
With water levels increasing, authorities have warned residents about the dangers of approaching wadis and flood-prone zones. The Ministry of Interior stressed that risky behavior during heavy rain could threaten both lives and property.
In its advisory, the ministry outlined penalties:
Gathering near valleys, flood channels, or dams during rainfall: Dh1,000 fine and six traffic points
Entering flowing wadis: Dh2,000 fine, 23 traffic points, and 60-day vehicle impoundment

Officials said these measures are designed to ensure public safety and allow emergency teams to operate effectively. Residents are urged to stay away from hazardous areas and follow official updates.

Final Wave of Rain Sweeps Through UAE
According to the National Centre of Meteorology, the UAE remains under the influence of a deep low-pressure system moving in from the west. This has resulted in cloudy to overcast skies and intermittent rainfall across most areas.
The final band of rain moved from western regions on Thursday evening toward Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi, the northern emirates, Al Ain, and eastern areas overnight, continuing into Friday. The system brought heavy rain, thunder, lightning, and winds reaching up to 60kph, along with blowing dust and poor visibility.
Earlier Showers and Rising Rainfall Totals
Rainfall on Thursday affected Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, and Fujairah, accompanied by thunderstorms and a noticeable drop in temperature.
Ongoing cloud activity since last weekend also caused wadis and mountain valleys in eastern regions to flow.
Recorded rainfall totals earlier this week included:
- 47.9mm in Al Tawiyeen
- 39.7mm in Al Marjan
- 33.3mm in Khor Fakkan
- 31.6mm in Khatm Al Shakla
Weather Outlook: Will Rain Continue?
On Friday, skies remained partly cloudy to cloudy, with convective clouds bringing rainfall of varying intensity at intervals across the country. Temperatures dropped further, while winds between 15–30kph, reaching up to 60kph, caused dust and reduced visibility.
Sea conditions stayed rough, particularly in the Arabian Gulf and the Sea of Oman during active cloud periods.
Conditions are expected to gradually improve by Friday evening. By Saturday, north-westerly winds are likely to bring clearer skies and slightly cooler temperatures. Fair weather is forecast for Sunday and Monday, although occasional winds may still stir dust in some areas.
