President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has called on Nigerians to embrace peace, tolerance and mutual respect across religious and ethnic divides as Christians across the country mark the Easter celebration.
In his Easter message, Akpabio urged citizens to reflect on the significance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ, emphasizing the values of love, unity and peaceful coexistence associated with the season.
He also extended warm greetings to Christians in Nigeria and across the world.
The Senate President encouraged Nigerians to use the Easter period as an opportunity to promote harmony and work collectively toward building a nation where all citizens can live in peace and prosperity.
He further called on Nigerians to remain hopeful despite the nation’s current challenges, stressing the importance of unity and shared responsibility in overcoming them.
Acknowledging ongoing security concerns in parts of the country, Akpabio expressed optimism that Nigeria would overcome its difficulties through collective effort, understanding and prayers for a brighter future.
He also noted that President Bola Tinubu, alongside the Armed Forces, is making sustained efforts to address insecurity nationwide.
The Senate President also extended condolences to families affected by terrorist and bandit attacks, particularly the recent killings in Jos, Plateau State. He prayed for God’s mercy upon the victims and comfort for those who lost loved ones.
Akpabio reiterated the need for Nigerians to remain steadfast in faith and commitment to national unity, stressing that the Easter season offers a renewed opportunity for reflection, reconciliation and hope for a more peaceful Nigeria.
