Head, Fraud and External Relations of First Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Aluko Joseph, has commended the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), for “its professionalism and integrity it brings to bear in the discharge of its duties”.
Specifically, it described the Commission as a fantastic organisation and one of the nation’s most revered institutions.
Aluko stated this on Wednesday, April 15, 2026 while on a courtesy visit to the Benin Zonal Directorate of the Commission.
According to him, First Bank was grateful to the Commission for its many interventions in areas of recovery of funds for the bank.
He expressed the bank’s gratitude and called for the strengthening of institutional relationship between the bank and the EFCC, noting that there was a need to deepen collaboration in areas of prevention, investigation and prosecution of financial crimes.
“By working together, both organisations aim to make significant strides in combating threats to financial institutions.”
He noted further that sustainable partnership will promote professionalism and enhance efficiency between both organisations in the long term “The objective is geared towards building enduring relationships that support ongoing progress and development.”
He called for joint capacity- building, training and knowledge sharing between the two institutions to tackle emerging security threats and financial crimes which according to him will enhance the skills and expertise of the workforce in detecting and preventing fraud in the society.
Accompanied on the visit were senior staff of the bank including Martins Akinsimisi, Group Head, Edo State who also commended the Commission for several successful interventions in recovery of funds including over N1 billion that the Benin Zonal Directorate handed over to the bank in January, 2026 after it successfully recovered same from one Ojo Eghosa Kingsley.
Responding, Ag Zonal Director, Benin Zonal Directorate, Deputy Commander of the EFCC, DCE Sa’ad Hanafi Sa’ad, appreciated the team for the compliments noting that the Commission will not rest on its oars.
“We are guided by our core values of professionalism, integrity, courage and collaboration in the discharge of our duties. Every staff of the Commission uphold these core values in the discharge of its duties.” He said the Commission will continue to combat economic and financial crimes in the society without fear or favour until the nation succeeds in totally tackling the menace.
