Former Nigerian international, Mike Eneramo, has passed away after collapsing during a training session in Kaduna on Friday.
The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning at a primary school in the Ungwan Yelwa area, where Eneramo was said to be carrying out routine training exercise.
According to reports, the striker suffered a suspected heart attack and died before he could be taken to the hospital.
Eneramo enjoyed a successful career, most notably with Espérance Sportive de Tunis, where he became a prolific goal scorer.
During his time in Tunisia, he won the Tunisian Ligue 1 title five times, claimed the Tunisian Cup on three occasions, and finished as the top scorer in the league twice.
He also emerged as the highest goal scorer in the CAF Champions League during the 2009/2010 season.
After leaving Tunisia, Eneramo had spells in Turkey with clubs such as Sivasspor, Beşiktaş J. K., İstanbul Başakşehir F.K., Karabükspor, and Manisaspor.
He later returned to Espérance before ending his career in 2018 with Cypriot side Türk Ocağı Limasol S.K..
On the international stage, Eneramo represented the Nigeria national football team, making his debut in a goalless friendly against Jamaica in London in February 2009.
He scored his first goal for Nigeria in a 1–1 draw against the Republic of Ireland later that year.
One of his most memorable moments came in a World Cup qualifier against Tunisia in Abuja, where he found the net in a thrilling 2–2 draw.
Eneramo is remembered as a dedicated and energetic striker whose contributions to club and country left a lasting impression.
He was 40 years old.
