The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, CP Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, has directed the Command’s Medical Director, ACP Ifayase Olabanji Akinola, in collaboration with the Police Counselling Unit, to commence a comprehensive psychological and mental health assessment of all personnel under his command.
Sanusi said the initiative is a decisive step aimed at strengthening discipline, improving welfare, and enhancing the overall operational efficiency of the Command.
He added that the exercise, which is scheduled to begin with junior officers on Monday, 4 May 2026, is designed to promote emotional stability, sound judgement, and improved performance both on and off duty.
According to a statement by the Command on Thursday, the directive was given during an interactive session with Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, and Heads of Tactical Units across the Command.
During the meeting, the Commissioner emphasised the need for the highest standards of professionalism in the discharge of policing duties.
He issued a strong warning against all forms of misconduct capable of bringing the Nigeria Police Force and the FCT Command into disrepute, while reiterating the importance of strict adherence to extant human rights laws.
Sanusi also urged members of the public to remain law-abiding and to promptly report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.
In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force National Cybercrime Centre (NPF-NCCC) announced that its E-Reporting Portal is now fully operational.
In a statement, the Centre said the Inspector-General of Police encourages members of the public to utilise the platform to report all forms of cybercrime, including online fraud, identity theft, cyberstalking, and other internet-related offences.
The statement noted that the portal provides a secure, convenient, and efficient channel for lodging complaints and supporting law enforcement efforts in responding swiftly to cyber threats.
It reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to ensuring the safety and security of citizens in the digital space.
Members of the public were also advised to report cases of police misconduct to the Nigeria Police Force Provost Marshal or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
