The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has recorded significant successes in both festive road safety management and the fight against vehicle related crimes.
This was contained in a statement issued on Friday in Abuja and signed by the corps spokesperson, Felicia Kalu.
According to the statement, the Corps, under the leadership of Corps Marshal Mohammed Shehu, has strengthened its intelligence driven operations, combining proactive road safety strategies with technology based vehicle tracking systems to safeguard lives and property nationwide.
“In its latest operational breakthrough, FRSC recovered a suspected stolen Toyota Camry at the NVIS Desk Office in Ebonyi State following a routine verification on March 24, 2026.
” The process flagged discrepancies in the vehicle’s records, leading to the identification of the original owner, Mr. Adeka Emmanuel Akoji, who confirmed the car had been stolen in Benue State on August 13, 2015.”
It noted that subsequent collaboration with the Nigeria Police led to the successful recovery of the vehicle by operatives of the Anti Kidnapping Squad in Abakaliki on March 27, 2026.
It said investigations revealed the vehicle, previously registered as MKD659AG, had been re-registered with a new plate number NKE500AE in an attempt to conceal its identity.
The Corps described the recovery as a testament to the effectiveness of the NVIS platform in tracking and verifying vehicle ownership, reinforcing its role in enhancing national security and curbing vehicle theft.
