AL-Harakatul Islamiyyah, an Islamic organisation based in Kwara state, has decried what it called growing indifference among global Muslim umah toward the Palestinian plight.
Speaking at a public lecture to commemorate the 2026 International Quds Day held in Ilorin Kwara state capital, the group’s leader, AbdulRazzaq AbdulWahab Al-Amin Aladodo, said the ongoing suffering of Palestinians exposes a failure of unity and non adherence to Islamic principles across the Muslim world.
He described Masjid Al-Aqsa as the third holiest site in Islam and a symbol of spiritual and political significance, noting that its desecration reflects broader injustice.
“The persistent agony of the Palestinians and the desecration of Masjid Al-Aqsa are clear indications of injustice in the global order,” he said, pointing to recent Middle East conflicts, including the October 7, 2023 attacks, as intensifying regional tensions.
The group leader urged the Nigerian government to take a firm stance against Israel by moving beyond calls for ceasefire and openly condemn Israel’s actions.
“It amounts to tokenism to merely call for cessation of hostilities when the aggressors are well known,” Aladodo said,
They also urged the federal government to sever diplomatic relations with Israel over alleged human rights violations in Gaza and restrictions on worship at Al-Aqsa Mosque.
It also appealed to Muslim nations to set aside internal divisions and prioritise humanitarian support for Palestinians.
The organisation leader warned that disunity continues to weaken collective influence and criticised ongoing diplomatic agreements between some Arab states and Israel as harmful to the Palestinian cause.
In his lecture at the event, Sheik Abubakar Olori urged Muslims to always submit to the will of Allah in all situations without compromising the doctrines of Islam and teachings of the holy Qur’an.
Highlight of the event included Prayers for unity, strength, and lasting peace across the Muslim world and a peaceful procession across major streets of Ilorin , calling on Muslims to use Quds Day as a moment of reflection and moral reform.
