An illegal Israeli settler has shot and killed two Palestinians in the occupied West Bank village of Al-Mughayyir.
The Red Crescent emergency service in Ramallah confirmed that 14-year-old Aws Hamdi al-Naasan and 32-year-old Marzouq Abu Naim were shot and killed near a school on the outskirts of the village.
Witnesses described a scene of pure terror as school administrators pleaded with parents to collect their children, only to be met with more gunfire and tear gas.
Kazem Al-Hajj Mohammad, who watched the lives of his neighbours vanish in a volley of shots, said the lines between settlers and the army have blurred into a “daily reality” of displacement and death.
“This is our life,” he said, as mourners carried the bodies, sheathed in Palestinian flags, out of the Ramallah Medical Complex.
The Israeli military identified the illegal setttler gunman as a civilian reservist, who was not mobilised at the time.
Despite the lethal outcome, no arrest has been made, though the military claims an investigation is underway into reports of “rock-throwing”.
