Hot 97’s Mero Tells Army “Send Akademiks” in Wild Tweet!

The Kid Mero is continuing his ongoing feud with DJ Akademiks, this time with a social media jab tied to recent military news.

After reports that the U.S. Army plans to raise the enlistment age, Mero took to X with a message directed at Akademiks.

“THEY SENDIN YA MFS TO THE MEAT GRINDER SEND @Akademiks,” he wrote. “FIRST HES BIG AS A DUCK BLIND PROLLY ABSORB SOME ROUNDS AND SAVE THE GUYS BEHIND HIM.”

He continued, “WHEN HE PISS ON HIMSELF THE ODOR WILL REPEL ENEMY COMBATANTS.”

The U.S. Army has raised its maximum enlistment age from 35 to 42, with the change set to take effect on April 20 under Army Regulation 601–210, published in March 20.

The update comes as the military prepares for increased demands, including deployments tied to tensions in the Middle East, namely, the war in Iran. The Army is also easing certain restrictions, allowing applicants with one conviction for marijuana possession or drug paraphernalia to enlist without a waiver, reflecting shifting laws around cannabis.

The minimum enlistment age remains 18, or 17 with parental consent. Other branches have different limits: the Navy and Air Force allow recruits over 40, while the Marine Corps caps enlistment at 28 unless a waiver is granted.

The post comes days after the two exchanged heated words online and on air. Akademiks previously responded to Mero’s criticism during a livestream, making it clear he is not rushing into another back-and-forth.

“I’m waiting for the day you get fired,” Akademiks said. “I’m just not going to give you any content that you can respond back to because we’re not going back and forth.”

He added, “Trust me, I’m going to deliver the eulogy. Your eulogy is written out already. It’s bookmarked, it’s indexed.”

For now, Akademiks says he is content watching from a distance. “I get to just laugh at you,” he said.

Their beef has been ongoing for the best part of a decade.
