If You Don’t Have Intelligence, You’re Going To Be Blind, This One, The Enemy Is Not Identified–Musa
According to a report by Leadership News on Friday, April 10, 2026, Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, General Christopher Gwabin Musa (rtd), has urged for improved intelligence operations and deeper cooperation among security agencies after the recent killing of a Brigadier General and 17 soldiers by terrorists in Borno State.…WATCH THE VIDEO HERE
The minister made the call while addressing journalists at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday, where he highlighted the seriousness of the evolving security situation confronting the country.
He emphasized that the nature of the conflict has shifted, requiring a different strategic approach from what was traditionally employed.
According to him, the ongoing security threats are not conventional in nature, but rather fall within the category of asymmetrical warfare, where opponents are difficult to identify and engage directly.
This, he noted, makes the role of intelligence gathering even more critical in planning and executing military operations.
He explained that unlike traditional battles where opposing forces are clearly visible and identifiable, the current situation involves adversaries who blend into communities and operate covertly.
This complexity, he said, demands a higher level of coordination among intelligence units and security agencies across the country.
The minister stressed that without accurate and timely intelligence, military operations would be severely hampered.
He noted that the absence of clear information about the enemy’s movements, structure, and tactics puts security personnel at a disadvantage on the battlefield.
He further underscored the need for synergy among all security outfits, pointing out that effective collaboration would enhance the sharing of intelligence and improve response capabilities.
This, he said, is essential to countering the tactics used by insurgents and terrorist groups operating in affected regions.
“If you don’t have intelligence, you are going to be blind. It’s not like the conventional one that you are seeing everybody. This one, the enemy, is not identified,” he said.
