Imo: Police arrest couple for drug trafficking


 

‎Operatives of the Imo State Police Command’s Surveillance Unit, acting on credible intelligence, have arrested two suspects involved in the sale of prohibited hard drugs. 

The operation was carried out on Friday, at about 06:30am at Umunjoku Obiokwu Amakohia-Ubi in Owerri West LGA of Imo State.

‎According to a press statement issued by the Imo Police Command’s spokesman, DSP Henry Okoye, ” The suspects, Collins Iwunze (51) and his wife, Onyinyechi Iwunze (43), were apprehended at their residence, where they allegedly dealt in hard drugs in commercial quantities. A bag containing assorted illicit substances was recovered during the operation.

‎”The suspects are currently in custody, while investigations are ongoing to facilitate their prosecution,” he disclosed.

‎Meanwhile, Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command, CP Audu Garba Bosso, has commended the operatives for a job well done and reiterated the Command’s commitment to combating drug-related crimes. 

He urged members of the public to report suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
