The Lagos State Task Force, Tuesday dismissed as false and misleading a viral “travel guide” circulating online which alleges that its operatives are stationed around the Sheraton Link Bridge inward Opebi and along Toyin Street to arrest unsuspecting motorists.
In a statement issued Tuesday by the director of Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, the agency described the claims as “entirely unsubstantiated, malicious, and deliberately crafted to mislead the public while tarnishing the image of the taskforce and its leadership.”
The taskforce denied any involvement in traffic enforcement operations in the указан areas, stating that the narrative is a deliberate falsehood aimed at discrediting the agency.
The statement said following a directive issued on April 1, 2026, by the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Tijani, the agency has suspended all traffic enforcement activities across Lagos state.
The directive, it noted, was aimed at preventing a breakdown of law and order and ensuring sustained peace, despite traffic enforcement being part of its statutory responsibilities.
It further clarified that its current operations are strictly focused on environmental enforcement and the removal of criminal elements, including miscreants, street urchins (popularly known as “Omotaku”) and drug addicts.
The agency also warned impostors and unauthorised individuals engaging in illegal enforcement activities to desist immediately or face arrest and prosecution.
