Okpebholo approves full scholarship for Late Brig.-Gen. Braimah’s children

Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo has approved full educational scholarships for the three children of the late Brig.-Gen. Oseni Braimah. This is contained in a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Dr Patrick Ebojele on Thursday in Benin.

TopHeadlines reports that the late Brig.-Gen. Braimah, who hailed from Warake in Owan East Local Government Area of the state, was the Commander of the 29 Joint Task Force Brigade.

He died alongside other soldiers on April 9 during a terrorist attack on a military formation in Benisheikh, Borno.

Okpebholo said the scholarship would fully cover the educational needs of the deceased officer’s children up to university level.

He noted that the decision underscores his administration’s commitment to honouring the sacrifice of fallen military personnel and supporting the families they leave behind.

“Brig.-Gen. Braimah paid the ultimate price in service to this country.

* It is only right that we stand by the family he left behind and ensure his children have uninterrupted access to education,” he said.

He added that the initiative reflects the government’s resolve to support the children throughout their academic journey and position them for a stable and meaningful future.

“No child of an Edo hero should be denied the opportunity to succeed.

*This is about responsibility, honour, and a deliberate investment in the future,” he said.

Okpebholo also urged other state governments and stakeholders to emulate the gesture by providing structured support, particularly in education, for families of military personnel who died in active service.

According to the statement, the beneficiaries of the scholarship are Farida (18), Amir (16) and Yasmeen (12), the deceased officer’s children.
