Oyo: Police arrest 10 suspected armed robbers, recover N100m exhibits 


The Oyo State Police Command, Sunday said it has arrested 10 suspected armed robbers, including three females and recovered exhibits valued at about 100 million 

The command in a statement by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, stated that the suspects were arrested at their hideout located within the Genesis Hotel area, Challenge, Ibadan.

The command said the arrested suspects were known “for hijacking containers at gunpoint and diverting valuable goods,” and operates across state lines.

“Operatives of the command, acting on credible intelligence, laid surveillance for weeks before successfully apprehending a notorious armed robbery syndicate at their hideout located within the Genesis Hotel area, Challenge, Ibadan,” he said.

DSP Ayanlade added: “The criminal gang, known for hijacking containers at gunpoint and diverting valuable goods, operates across state lines and was intercepted, leading to the arrest of 10 suspects at the scene. 

“A substantial cache of stolen items was recovered from the suspects, including 40 units of air conditioners, 10 washing machines, one electric motorcycle, assorted creams, seven cutting machines, fifteen packs of LED lights, 25 packs of furniture gum, numerous trailer spare parts, women’s hair relaxers, wigs, chin- chin, as well as furniture and painters’ materials. The total value of the recovered exhibits is estimated at N100 million.”
