PDP dissolves Sokoto State Executive, sets up caretaker committee

National Working Committee (NWC) of the factional Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dissolved the Sokoto State Executive Committee of the party and constituted a caretaker committee to oversee its affairs.

The decision, which takes immediate effect, is part of ongoing efforts by the party leadership to strengthen and reposition its structure in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement issued and signed by the factional PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Haruna Mohammed, who explained that the action was taken in line with Article 29(2)(b) of the party’s constitution.

According to the statement, Hon. Hayatu Tafida has been appointed as Chairman of the caretaker committee, while other members include Garba M. Duka, Ibrahim Dagara, Hadiza Abubakar Tambuwal, Hajiya Inno Attahiru, Zayyan S. Marafa, Faisal Jubrin, Hon. Kabiru Aliyu, Abdulqadir Umar Gidadawa, Zainab Nasser Dogondaji, Hon. Musa Abubakar Girkau, Mohammed Abubakar Shinko, Aliyu Abubakar Alkammawa, Hajiya Maryam Kende, and Ahmed S. Pawa, who will serve as Secretary.

The party said the committee has been tasked with managing PDP affairs in Sokoto State in accordance with Section 21(2)(a-b) of the party constitution.

It added that the caretaker committee’s mandate is temporary, with a tenure of 30 days, or until a new executive committee is elected.
