Plateau govt. imposes 48-hour curfew
The Plateau Government has imposed a 48-hour curfew on Jos North Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Mrs Joyce Ramnap, the Commissioner for Information and Communications in the state, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Jos.
Ramnap said that the move followed a Sunday night attack by gunmen on the Angwan Rukuba community of the area.
The attack, which occurred at around 8 pm on Sunday, left at least 12 people dead and several others injured.
”The Plateau Government, in conjunction with the security agencies have imposed a 48-hour curfew within Jos-North LGA.
”The curfew will run from midnight on Sunday, March 29, to Wednesday, April 1,” she said.
The commissioner, who condemned the unprovoked attack on innocent citizens, called on residents of the area to be calm and law-abiding.
She assured the people that the government and security agencies have adopted measures to forestall future occurrences and arrest perpetrators.(NAN)
