Police recruitment: Katsina governor Radda warns against enlisting individuals with criminal records 

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina state Tuesday called for thorough and credible background checks in the ongoing 2025/2026 Police Constable Recruitment Exercise to ensure that only qualified, disciplined, and law-abiding citizens are enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force.

The governor stated this at Government House, Katsina, while receiving members of the 2025/2026 Police Constable Recruitment Teams, who briefed him on the progress, conduct, and various phases of the exercise in the state.

Governor Radda stated that the recruitment exercise is a critical national assignment aimed at strengthening the manpower, capacity and operational effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.

He commended the orderly, transparent, and well-coordinated manner in which the exercise is being conducted, adding that the process has been seamless and properly structured.

The governor also praised the calibre, professionalism, and dedication of the recruitment team, describing their efforts as commendable and highly impactful.

He said the Nigeria Police Force plays a vital role in safeguarding lives and property, as well as maintaining peace and order across the country.

Governor Radda  urged the recruitment team to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the exercise, emphasizing strict adherence to due process at all stages.

“Background checks must be taken very seriously to ensure that individuals with criminal tendencies are not recruited and given the opportunity to abuse the system,” he said.

He assured the team of the continued support and cooperation of the Katsina state government towards the successful completion of the exercise.

Earlier, the recruitment team, led by director Aminu Abubakar Malumfashi of the Police Service Commission and DCP Ramatu Sada, FDC, briefed the governor on the progress, phases, and achievements recorded so far in the exercise.
