Soldiers Seize Firearms, Arrest Suspects in Delta

Troops of Headquarters 63 Brigade/Sector 1, Joint Task Force (South South), under Operation DELTA SAFE, have recorded a major operational breakthrough with the recovery of arms and the arrest of two suspected criminals in Ogidigben Community, Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta State.

The operation followed reports of sporadic gunfire within the community. Acting on credible intelligence, the troops swiftly mobilized to the area, leading to the seizure of four AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and 106 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition. Other items recovered include two knives, ten machetes, and four pairs of rain boots.

The arrested suspects are currently in custody and undergoing further investigation.

Commending the troops for their professionalism and resilience, the Commander 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Moronfolu Abdulmoshood Shonibare, urged them to maintain the current operational momentum. He reaffirmed the Brigade’s commitment to denying criminal elements freedom of action across its area of responsibility.

The commander also issued a stern warning to individuals and groups involved in criminal activities or in possession of illegal arms to desist, emphasizing that intensified operations would ensure they are identified and apprehended.
