The Director-General of Developmental Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN), Dr Seye Oyelade, Thursday stated that stakeholders from the region are now working to prepare operational framework for the establishment of state police.

He stated this while addressing journalists on a technical session, tagged “Foundational Imperatives for State Police in South West Nigeria,” held at the Dipo Famakinwa Conference Room, DAWN Commission headquarters, Cocoa House, Dugbe, Ibadan.

He stated  that the technical session held in conjunction with security experts and other relevant stakeholders  met on the need to develop an operational framework for state policing to checkmate reported cases of kidnapping, banditry and other heinous acts in the South west region.

He said the session was convened in response to growing momentum at the federal level for the creation of state police, saying in order not to be caught unaware, the stakeholders from the region decided to meet and prepare an operational framework.
