Troops Destroy Terror Camps, Recover Arms in Kwara

Troops under Operation Safe South-South (OPSS) have intensified security operations in Kwara State, destroying suspected terrorist camps, recovering weapons, and rescuing a kidnapped victim in separate operations across the state.

Security sources told TopHeadlines that the clearance operations were carried out in Kaiama Local Government Area, where troops uncovered and dismantled makeshift camps believed to be used by criminal elements at Nuku village.

The operation, described as intelligence-driven, involved coordinated ground sweeps aimed at flushing out suspected terrorists and disrupting their activities within the area.
Following the raid, troops advanced to Woro village, where the Commanding Officer conducted an on-the-spot assessment of ongoing operations and addressed personnel, urging sustained vigilance and operational discipline.

As part of efforts to strengthen field operations, troops deployed in the axis were reinforced with an armoured personnel carrier fitted with a QJC weapon system, significantly boosting their firepower and mobility.

Military sources said the additional equipment is expected to enhance rapid response capability and provide improved protection for personnel during engagements.
In a related development, troops operating from the Esie patrol base in Ifelodun Local Government Area successfully rescued a kidnapped victim during a search-and-rescue mission.

The operation, conducted in collaboration with Forest Guards and local vigilantes, took place around the Owode Ofaro area, where the victim was recovered unharmed.
The latest operations underscore ongoing efforts by security forces to dismantle criminal hideouts and curb insecurity in parts of Kwara State, particularly along forested and rural corridors.

Authorities said the operations would continue with increased intensity to deny criminal elements freedom of movement and restore lasting peace in the affected communities.
Residents have been encouraged to support security agencies with timely and credible information to sustain the gains recorded in the operations.
