Kaduna state governor Sen. Uba Sani on Friday urged newly deployed corps members in the state to embrace entrepreneurship and self-reliance as they commence the 2026 Batch ‘A’ Stream II orientation course.
The governor gave the charge at the swearing in ceremony held at the NYSC temporary orientation camp, Government College, Kaduna, where he advised the corps members to take full advantage of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.
He said the programme was designed to equip young graduates with practical and marketable skills that would enable them to become self-reliant and job-creators.
“The NYSC Scheme provides a unique platform for entrepreneurship through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, which begins right here in camp. I strongly urge you to participate actively in SAED and take full advantage of the training, resources and mentorship available,” he said.
According to the governor, the initiative offers an opportunity for corps members to acquire skills capable of reducing dependence on white-collar jobs and creating employment opportunities for others.
Governor Sani also charged the corps members to remain disciplined and vigilant throughout the orientation exercise and their service year, stressing that security remained a collective responsibility.
He urged them to report suspicious movements and relevant security information promptly to the appropriate authorities.
Earlier, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Peeke Murna Dadaza, congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of their academic programmes and their mobilisation for national service.
She urged them to obey camp rules and regulations and participate fully in all activities lined up for the orientation course.
She also commended the Kaduna state government for its continued support to the NYSC scheme “particularly the recent renovation works and infrastructure improvements at the temporary orientation camp.”
The governor later declared the 2026 ‘Batch A’ Stream II orientation course open after the administration of the oath of allegiance on the corps members.
