Over the weekend, Zahara Jolie and her superstar mom, Angelina Jolie, took over Atlanta as the guests of honor at a high-profile brunch hosted by the Pearls of Purpose Foundation and the Nu Lambda Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. (AKA).
The “Dearest Mother & Daughter” Brunch, held on Saturday, April 25, 2026, was a packed house of Atlanta’s most elite and accomplished Black women—and honey, Zahara was the star of the show!
Zahara Stepping Into Leadership
Zahara, now a 21-year-old senior at Spelman College, is proving she’s much more than just a Hollywood heiress. She took the stage not just as a student, but as a leader within her sorority.
The Role: Zahara currently serves as the Vice President of her AKA chapter at Spelman!
The Vision: During her moving speech, Zahara revealed that she is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Educational Studies. She officially announced her plans to pursue a career in youth development and mentoring, specifically working with young girls.
The Quote: Ending her speech with a tear-jerker, Zahara looked at her mom and said, “I’m a strong woman because a strong woman raised me.”
Angelina: “The Proudest Mom In The Room”
Angelina, who looked stunning and understated in a white dress, also took a moment to address the room. While she’s used to the Oscars and the UN, insiders tell Media Take Out that she seemed genuinely “humbled” to be in a space celebrating the power of Black sisterhood.
“Thank you for supporting brilliant young minds and for hosting this mother-daughter luncheon,” Angelina told the crowd. “Thank you for allowing us this moment to share together… and for celebrating this very special bond.”
A “Kindred” Relationship
Zahara got deep about her adoption and her relationship with her mother, describing it as a “found love.”
The Adoption: She spoke about being adopted at six months old and how Angelina raised the family on the values of helping others and striving for growth.
The Connection: “My mom and I have a unique, almost kindred relationship that could be hard to put into words,” Zahara said, noting that Angelina has been “curious about everything” regarding her sorority life and college experience.
Spelman’s Rising Star
Since joining the “Sweet” Mu Pi Chapter of AKA in 2023, Zahara has been a viral sensation—from her “crossing” video to her strolling on campus. But in 2026, she is showing that she’s serious about the service aspect of her sorority. One attendee at the brunch told Media Take Out: “Zahara isn’t playing. She’s articulate, poised, and you can tell she truly wants to do the work in the community.”
