APC: Yilwatda, Basiru, others return, Enekwu, Duru dropped from NWC

Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has been returned as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while Surajudeen Basiru emerged as National Secretary at the party’s 4th elective National Convention held Friday night at Eagles Square, Abuja.

Blueprint.ng reports that they were announced by the Convention Election Committee as part of several officials elected via consensus.

However, the party’s Deputy National Chairman, Emmanuel Enekwu and the Deputy National Organising Secretary, Hon. Chidi Duru, were dropped from the National Working Committee (NWC).

President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker Tajudeen Abbas were present at the convention.

The convention, themed “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” was organised by a planning committee led by a former Katsina State Governor, Aminu Masari, and former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Anyim Pius Anyim.

APC has held state and zonal congresses that produced executive members before the ongoing national convention.

In few weeks, the ruling party is expected to hold its primaries for various elective positions ahead of 2027 general elections.
