Argentina is set to become the eighth country to relocate its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem after President Javier Milei said during his third official visit to Israel that the move would go forward “as soon as conditions allow”.
Milei first announced the plan in February 2024 and reaffirmed it in June 2025 in a speech at the Knesset, saying the move would be carried out in 2026.
While Israel claims the entire city as its “undivided capital”, Palestinians see occupied East Jerusalem as the capital of a future Palestinian state, in line with longstanding international consensus and UN resolutions.
