A 20-year-old undergraduate of the University of Lagos, Owonifari Fiyinfoluwa, Thursday, told a Lagos state High Court sitting in Ikeja , how a 53-year-old lecturer, Dr. Samuel Obinna Ojogbo, allegedly raped her in his office.
Testifying before Justice Oyindamola Ogala, the victim said: “I am a student of the University of Lagos,” and she recounted the incident that occurred on August 22, 2025, in the lecturer’s underground office on the Akoka campus.
Count one of the charge reads, “That you, Dr. Samuel Obinna Ojogbo, on the 22nd of August, 2025 at about 1200hours, at the University of Lagos, Akoka Campus, Lagos state, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did rape one Owonifari Fiyinfoluwa, 20 years by having sexual intercourse with her without her consent in your office and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 260 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.
“That you, Dr. Samuel Ojogbo, on the same date, time, and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did sexually assaulted one Fiyinfoluwa Owonifari, 20 years, an undergraduate of the University of Lagos State, Akoka, Lagos State by pressing her breasts with your hand in your office and thereby committed an offence punishable under Section 263(1) of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”
The witness narrated that after inviting her to his office following an exam, the lecturer met her the next day and led her to the office.“There’s no window, there’s no secretary. He pushed me to the couch and started touching my breasts. Then, he forced himself on me and the defendant raped me.”
She added that afterward, the lecturer promised to supervise her final-year project, collected her number, and gave her a copy of her exam docket.
The student said she reported the incident to a lecturer, Mr Abu, who called her uncle in another department and they reported it to the Head of Department.
