Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to delivering more dividends of democracy through sustained investment in infrastructure, healthcare, education, and security.
The governor’s pledge was conveyed by his Special Adviser on Media Affairs, Isah Ismaila, while addressing journalists in Kaduna.
According to the aide, the Ododo administration has already made significant strides, particularly in the health sector, where over 80 primary healthcare centres have been constructed and commissioned across the state.
He added that general hospitals have also been strengthened with the deployment of qualified medical personnel to improve service delivery and ensure access to quality healthcare.
In a bid to reduce the financial burden of medical care, the government has expanded its health insurance programme, bringing more citizens under coverage and improving overall health outcomes.
On education, the administration has undertaken large-scale interventions, including the renovation of more than 700 public schools to create a more conducive learning environment.
Ismaila further disclosed that over 30,000 adolescent schoolgirls have benefited from targeted support programmes designed to promote education and reduce dropout rates.
He noted that infrastructure development remains a top priority, with 20 kilometres of roads under construction in each of the 21 local government areas, many of which are nearing completion.
The road projects, he said, are aimed at boosting economic activities, improving connectivity, and easing transportation challenges across the state.
To attract investment, the government has acquired about 4,000 hectares of land for the establishment of Free Trade Zones to serve both local and international investors.
Addressing security concerns, the media adviser revealed that the state has procured advanced surveillance drones to support security agencies in intelligence gathering and crime prevention.
He added that local vigilante groups have been revitalised to complement the efforts of conventional security forces, thereby strengthening the state’s security architecture.
While acknowledging the existence of isolated security challenges, Ismaila expressed confidence in the capacity of security agencies to address them effectively.
In addition, the state government has introduced welfare measures for civil servants, including the provision of buses to ease daily commuting and boost morale.
He said the administration has also cleared outstanding salary arrears and other entitlements, reaffirming its commitment to workers’ welfare.
The aide, therefore, called on residents to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and supportive of government initiatives to enable the state enjoy sustained growth and development.
