The Presidency has said opposition political parties are “standing on sinking ground,” while President Bola Tinubu remains firmly “on the rock of competence.”
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Public Communication, Sunday Dare, made this known on Sunday during an interview on Arise Television.
Reacting to the Ibadan declaration by opposition parties to present a single presidential candidate, Dare dismissed the summit as a gathering of “recycled politicians.”
He said the participants are individuals who have served as ministers, governors, and long-time political actors, noting that a closer look at their recent performances—whether in executive or legislative roles, shows little evidence of fresh ideas.
According to him, the figures involved have nothing new to offer Nigerians.
“They are free to field five or even seven presidential candidates. But as I said, they are standing on sinking ground,” he stated.
“That is the beauty of democracy. You have opposition parties and individuals, and political leaders can decide on their course of action.
“But that does not change the fact that there is a functioning government in place, delivering measurable outcomes. That reality remains,” he added.
