A presidential aspirant on the platform of the National Rescue Movement (NRM), Faduri Oluwadamilare Joseph has called on the security agencies to urgently secure the release of a University of Jos student, John Arum Azi, reportedly abducted by unidentified persons.
Faduri, popularly known as Fadojoe, made the call in a statement titled, “A Nation in pain: A Call to Defend the Sanctity of Human Life,” expressed concerns over reports circulating in the video indicating the student is in captivity.
“My heart is heavy,” he said, stressing that no Nigerian should be subjected to such treatment, describing the situation as a reflection of the country’s sordid security challenges.
Faduri characterised the incident as “moral emergency”, stating that persistent cases of abductions threaten public safety and national stability.
He urged authorities to deploy all available resources, including intelligence and technology to track down those responsible and ensure the safe return of the student as well as others reportedly in captivity across the country.
Highlighting the broader impact of insecurity to national pride, the NRM chieftain said many Nigerians now live with heightened concerns about safety in communities, on highways and within institutions.
Faduri outlined measures he would pursue if elected president, including reforms to the nation’s security architecture, adoption of intelligence – driven strategies, deployment of surveillance systems and strengthening of community-based intelligence networks.
