Uba Sani bags NIPR Fellowship, named PR Ambassador as Institute commends service
Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has been conferred with the Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) in recognition of his contributions to public service in Kaduna State and the country at large.
The conferment took place at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, where the institute’s leadership described the honour as a reflection of merit, integrity, and commitment to national development.
Speaking at the investiture, the National President of NIPR, Ike Neliaku, said the institute exercises caution in awarding its fellowship, noting that recipients must demonstrate tangible value to society.
“We are very careful of those who wear the NIPR brand. The honouree must have something to offer the citizens, the nation, and the people,” he said.
According to him, the council of the institute, drawn from across the country, found the governor worthy of the recognition based on his record of service and impact.
Neliaku cited infrastructure development as part of the governor’s achievements, recalling that the Sokoto Road leading to the Government House was last dualised in 1999, adding that no administration had undertaken major work on it until the current government commenced a comprehensive reconstruction.
He explained that while state governors are traditionally patrons of the institute under the NIPR Act, not all are elevated beyond that status, stressing that the fellowship is reserved for individuals who embody the ideals of reputation, responsibility, and leadership.
The NIPR president noted that the fellowship is a lifetime honour that remains with the recipient beyond public office, symbolising enduring recognition by the professional body.
He further disclosed that Nigeria will host the 2026 World Public Relations Forum, with over 100 countries expected to participate in the global event scheduled to hold in Abuja.
According to him, the forum will be held alongside the 37th conference of the African Public Relations Association from November 15 to 21, 2026, with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu serving as Chief Host.
Neliaku also announced that the Global Alliance has designated Governor Uba Sani as an Ambassador of the World Public Relations Forum, a role that accords him international recognition within the global communications community.
In his response, Governor Uba Sani expressed gratitude to the institute for the honour, describing it as both humbling and a call to greater responsibility in public service.
He said the recognition would further inspire his administration’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical communication in governance.
The governor also affirmed Kaduna State’s readiness to host the third NIPR Week, noting that the event would provide a platform for meaningful national dialogue and reinforce the state’s commitment to inclusive development and exchange of ideas.
