Adamawa: Customs seize dry Donkey meat, other contrabands


As part of  efforts to curb smuggling activities and tackle the challenges of economic sabotage in the country, the Adamawa/ Taraba states command of the Nigeria  Customs Service (NCS) has seized dry Donkey meat, Donkey skin, other contrabands and PMS with duty paid value of over 94 million  Naira.

This disclosure was made by the newly posted Customs  Comptroller for Adamawa/ Taraba area Command, Comptroller Mohammed Abdullahi Mako  at a press conference in Yola on Wednesday. 

He listed the items seized   to includes 509  pieces of raw Donkey skin, 460kg of dry Donkey meat, 45 jumbo sacks of second hand clothings, cartoons of viagra 200mg  tablets, jerry cans and drums of PMS with duty paid value of Ninety Eight Million,three hundred and seventy five thousand ,three hundred and twenty five naira(#98,375,235.00). 

He said they were seized within just 6 weeks. 

He attributed the success of the operations to the commitments and resilience of the officers and men of the  command,  charging them not to relent in their efforts to  wipe the area  and the country of all smuggling activities.

The Comptroller  further reiterated his commitment to cracking down on all smuggling cartels within his command so that the nation’s economy will have a breath of fresh air.

He advised those involved in this act of sabotage to repent and embrace legitimate businesses in their own interest and betterment of the country, as there would not be a hidden place for them.

He also commended the Comptroller General of Customs,CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi,for his visionary leadership and other sisters agencies as well as media and the general public for their supports and collaborations which resulted into this successes.

Mako,further supervised the burning and burying of the seized Donkey meat and raw skin which is hazardous to public health
