Despite that Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and members of the Governance Advisory Council (GAC) had endorsed the state deputy governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat as their consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship race, an aspirant on the platform of ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdul lazees Olajide Adediran, also known as Jandor, has picked nomination and expression interest forms for the office.
A statement signed by the publicity secretary of his campaign team, Gbenga Ogunleye, said Adediran has formally purchased the forms to contest the governorship election in the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The statement said the step taken by Jandor reflects that he is a disciplined adherence to the party’s established processes and his unwavering belief in the internal democratic mechanisms of the APC.
“He reiterates his full alignment with the party’s official position on the adoption of direct primaries for all elective offices, and expresses confidence that this approach will further deepen participatory democracy, strengthen party cohesion, and give every member a sense of ownership in the emergence of candidates,” the statement reads.
The statement said further that Adediran reaffirms his respect, loyalty and unwavering commitment to the national leader of the APC and President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“He equally extends his highest regards to the leadership of the party in Lagos state, its distinguished elders, and all recognised leaders whose guidance continues to shape the progressive ideals of the APC.”
